In the true spirit of the Queen, Beyoncé has done it again. Beginning the week of April 16th, Beyoncé began uploading clips of her what is now revealed visual album, Lemonade. But only if you stalked her website, you would know that it was uploaded. By the end of the week you were dying to know what exactly she meant by the term ‘Lemonade.’
“When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.” That’s exactly what each mini-video put together to tell the story of love, infidelity, and family strife. The movie aired on HBO giving a real “Beasts of the Southern Wild” feel with the bayou scenes and old plantation. Bottom line, if you haven’t seen it, you need to. The album is currently on repeat and it isn’t “classic” party and dancing Beyoncé; with this album you go on a roller coaster of emotions, ending with the hit single ‘Formation.’ If Beyoncé doesn’t get country single of the year with her song Daddy’s Lessons, then it will be a serious problem.
Beyoncé paid homage to those like Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Mike Brown, and Emmitt Till whose lives were all taken. The heritage and culture of the African Diaspora along with the linkage from slavery to slavery and everything in between was painted so beautifully in this project, and that is what makes Beyoncé such a pioneer; being able to tell her story through her true passion for thousands to receive and internalize.
Beyonce's album dropped on TIDAL during the Lemonade's HBO premiere short film which was somewhat expected and anticipated. From beginning to end of the short film of all of her songs put into a perfect masterpiece, Beyoncé had us all on edge from beginning to end. This was right in time for her tour that is making its way to our neck of the woods, Atlanta, GA, fairly soon. When life gives you lemons, depend on Beyoncé to give you a dose of some lemonade.
